SYRACUSE — Jimmy John’s — a national franchised sandwich restaurant chain based in Champaign, Ill. — will open a location at Pike Block in downtown Syracuse, VIP Development Associates, Inc. (VIPDA) announced today. VIPDA is the developer of Pike Block, a 130,000–square–foot mixed–use residential and retail project.

Spin the Planet Enterprises, Inc., which operates two other Jimmy John’s restaurants in Syracuse, is the franchisee for the restaurant going into Pike Block — Spin the Planet’s 41st Jimmy John’s nationwide.

The latest eatery will be located along the 100 block of West Fayette St., next to Tim Hortons, another Pike Block establishment. The new Jimmy John’s will cover 1,500 square feet. A date for the restaurant’s opening is unknown, since Jimmy John’s has just executed a lease and the build-out of the space is yet to be planned, according to David Compton, director of marketing at VIP Structures, Inc., a design-build firm based in Syracuse. VIPDA is its development arm.
