VERONA — La Quinta Inn & Suites, 5394 Willow Place, celebrated its grand opening June 21, bringing a new 97-room hotel to the Turning Stone Resort and Casino area.

Located just down Route 365 from the casino, La Quinta offers a free shuttle to the casino for its guests. The hotel — operated by the Bedosky family, principals with T. Stone in Johnson City — also features a lounge/bar area, indoor pool, whirlpool spa, workout room, business center, guest laundry center, a breakfast buffet, and conference space for up to 100 people.

Eagle Builders, LLC of Syracuse was the general contractor for the project, which cost the Bedosky family about $8.5 million, financed with M&T Bank. The hotel employs between 25 and 30 people.

Nearby Turning Stone has just over 700 hotel rooms and a nearby Fairfield Inn (a Marriott International, Inc. brand) has 93 rooms. Bedosky told The Mohawk Valley Business Journal in June 2011 that a study conducted by his family showed the area needed between 1,000 and 1,500 more hotel rooms to meet demand generated by Turning Stone, which draws more than 4 million visitors annually.

LQ Management LLC operates La Quinta. La Quinta, based in Dallas, has 9,000 employees and operates or provides franchise services to more than 800 hotels with more than 80,000 rooms in the United States, Canada, and Mexico under the La Quinta Inns and La Quinta Inn & Suites brands. La Quinta has several hotels in New York including locations in Latham, Rochester, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Elmsford.

The Bedosky family operates a La Quinta Inn in Johnson City along with a Best Western hotel and several Athletic Club locations in the Southern Tier.
