Laboratory Alliance of CNY appoints Mullin as new CEO

SALINA, N.Y. — The board of managers of Laboratory Alliance of Central New York, LLC has appointed Anne Marie Mullin as CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2016.

Mullin will replace Dr. Michael O’Leary, the firm’s current CEO, who will be retiring, Laboratory Alliance said in a news release issued Monday.

“We feel confident that the organization will be in good hands with Anne Marie Mullin,” Ted Pasinski, chair of the Laboratory Alliance board of managers, said in the release. “Her background in medical technology and transfusion medicine, combined with her leadership and health-care management skills, provide the right balance required to lead the organization forward.”

O’Leary has provided “outstanding” leadership and service to the organization, Pasinski added. “We wish him well in his transition to retirement, and thank him for his many contributions to Laboratory Alliance.”

Both O’Leary and Mullin have been with Laboratory Alliance since its founding in 1998.

In her current role as senior vice president, Mullin oversees the team responsible for daily operations of the company’s facilities, including its corporate offices, operations center, three “rapid response” laboratories, and 11 patient-service centers.

In addition to her current role, Mullin has served as vice president of business development & marketing, director of marketing, and director of outreach for Laboratory Alliance.

Laboratory Alliance said it is also reviewing the “credentials and qualifications necessary” for O’Leary’s replacement as medical director of the company’s operations center, since he held that title in addition to serving as CEO of the entire organization.

Laboratory Alliance of CNY — an independent, for-profit laboratory serving upstate New York — performs more than 10 million tests per year through its 11 patient centers and four laboratory locations.

It is the exclusive provider of laboratory services for St. Joseph’s Health, Crouse Hospital, and Upstate University Hospital’s Community Campus, according to its LinkedIn page. Laboratory Alliance also provides laboratory services for the majority of physician practices in Central New York and the most of long-term care facilities and home-care agencies in Onondaga County.

Laboratory Alliance, which employs more than 400 people, is headquartered at 1304 Buckley Road in Salina, its website says. Its operations center is situated in the Electronics Business Park, also in Salina.
