SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Laci’s Tapas Bar has set a final closing date of Dec. 19 after 10 years of operation at 304 Hawley Ave. in Syracuse.

Owner Laura Serway announced the upcoming closure in a Sunday post on the eatery’s Facebook page.

“It’s very difficult for me to make this decision. I have the most amazing team in the world and they have been so supportive of this operation,” Serway said in a video that accompanied the Facebook post.

About 30 employees will lose their jobs in the closure, Serway tells CNYBJ, and she’s working to help them find new employment. She also plans to sell the building that houses Laci’s Tapas Bar.

Even though the ongoing pandemic has hurt the business, including having to close temporarily earlier this year, Serway says it’s not the reason she’s ending the business. She says she just feels it’s time to move on to a new endeavor.

Serway co-founded Laci’s with Cindy Seymour. The name Laci is a combination of Serway’s and Seymour’s first names. Serway has served as the restaurant’s sole owner since Seymour relocated to North Carolina in 2019.

Laci’s Tapas Bar will be open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday until Dec. 19, according to the Facebook post.
