Le Moyne names Madden School trading center for alumni from Errico family

SYRACUSE — When Syracuse native Robert Errico attended Le Moyne College, the campus had just three buildings.

 

Errico graduated in 1957 and has been in the investment/financial services business for nearly 50 years.

 

Now, his family name is on the trading center in Le Moyne’s Madden School of Business. 

 

“It brings the world markets to this room. They can experience it. They can see it, and they can participate in it,” says Errico. 

 

The school on Aug. 28 held a short ceremony to unveil a sign above the entrance to the “Errico Family Trading Center,” which seeks to help prepare students for careers on Wall Street.

 

“I think this is such a major step forward for Le Moyne to provide this level of education in business for students to understand how the world markets work and gain that experience while they’re in college,” says Errico. He spoke with CNYBJ after the ceremony.

 

Le Moyne College is naming the center in honor of Errico; his wife, Nicolena Scirto Errico, who graduated in 1959; and their son, Chris Errico, a 1990 graduate of Le Moyne.

 

The dedication was the result of the Errico family’s service to the college and its financial support, Joseph Della Posta, Le Moyne’s director of communications, said in response to a CNYBJ email inquiry. 

 

The family members have donated about $1 million to Le Moyne College “during their lifetime of giving,” he added. 

 

“They funded this beautiful center,” says James (Jim) Joseph, dean of the Madden School of Business. He spoke with CNYBJ at the event.

 

Robert Errico will be a guest lecturer in Le Moyne classes this fall. He currently lives in New York City and in Skaneateles during the summer months.

 

Errico, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics, most recently served as COO of New York City–based Locust Wood Capital LP, according to background information that Le Moyne provided. 

 

Chris Errico is currently managing director at UBS Financial Services and the managing partner of Errico Partners Group of USB.

 

Prior to joining UBS, the younger Errico served as senior vice president of investments for Morgan Stanley.

 

The Errico family “embodies” business education at Le Moyne College, says Linda LeMura, president of Le Moyne.

 

“They are entrepreneurial in nature. They have a strong sense of integrity and ethics in business, and they personify the kind of education that we want to offer future generations of Le Moyne College students,” says LeMura. 

 

Established in 2011 and named for Le Moyne College alumnus Michael Madden in 2012, the Madden School of Business moved into the renovated Mitchell Hall in 2013.
