LeChase Construction to acquire Lendlease offices in Syracuse and North Carolina

LeChase Construction Services, LLC of Rochester will acquire “select construction-business assets” from Lendlease Americas Inc. in both Syracuse and the Raleigh–Durham area of North Carolina.

The Rochester–based firm didn’t release any financial terms of the acquisition, including price, in its news release announcing the deal.

LeChase, a construction management and general construction firm, contends the purchase will enable the acquired offices to “continue to grow and succeed.”

The company expects the deal to close May 28. In the acquisition, 18 Lendlease employees who work at its Syracuse office will join LeChase, the company said in an email response to a BJNN inquiry.

The Syracuse office is located at 360 W. Jefferson St., according to the Lendlease website.

The deal also impacts 60 employees at the Lendlease office in Durham, North Carolina, LeChase said in its email response. LeChase also operates an office near Lendlease’s Durham office.

LeChase currently employs about 700 people total with annual revenue of nearly $700 million in building construction.

The employee count will increase after the acquisition closes. LeChase expects the updated figure will “fluctuate” based on field personnel involved, the company said in its email response.

Besides its Rochester headquarters, LeChase also operates New York state offices in Syracuse, Ithaca, Binghamton, Corning, Buffalo, and Armonk (Westchester County), according to its website.

The Lendlease offices are “well aligned” with LeChase’s business and growth strategy, William Goodrich, CEO of LeChase Construction, said in the company’s release.

 “[The offices] will help LeChase continue to develop its longstanding presence in upstate New York and expand its scale and relationships in North Carolina … our primary markets. At the same time, the transaction allows Lendlease to evolve its plan to focus on major metropolitan cities. It’s a unique opportunity and the right timing for both companies,” said Goodrich.

Australia–based Lendlease, an international property and infrastructure group, had 12,400 employees worldwide as of June 2015, according to the LeChase news release.

Its Americas region, headquartered in New York City, offers project management and construction, public partnerships, development, and asset and property management.

The firm focuses on sectors that include arts and culture, commercial office, education, energy, government, health care, hotels and resorts, industrial, military housing communities, mixed-use, multi-site, pharmaceutical, senior living, telecommunications, transportation, and aviation and urban regeneration.
