Local franchisees open second Clothes Mentor store in Clay

Joseph and Cynthia Giannuzzi own the Clothes Mentor resale-fashion stores in Clay and DeWitt.

CLAY — The local franchisees of Clothes Mentor, a national chain that buys and sells used women’s clothing from brand-name designers, have opened a second Onondaga County location at 4138 State Route 31 in Clay.

Joseph and Cynthia Giannuzzi also operate a store in DeWitt, which they opened in 2010, according a company news release issued on Wednesday.

“We’re a totally different form of shopping,” Joseph and Cynthia Giannuzzi, store owners, said in the release. “We fit the growing style, brand and value consciousness of Syracuse women who love fashion and adore 70 percent savings. Equally important, customers selling us quality, good-condition merchandise receive immediate cash, not a consignment form.”

The Giannuzzis previously operated a day spa called Joseph Anthony & Company and the Boutique on James, a combination consignment store, boutique, and hair salon.

Clothes Mentor contends it buys good-condition clothing from neighbors and is “very picky about quality.” Items must be current style, freshly laundered and free of stains, fading, missing buttons, or broken zippers, it added.

The public can bring clothing in any time, without an appointment.
