OWEGO, N.Y. — Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) announced it has appointed Hamid Salim as the new general manager of its manufacturing plant in Owego.

Salim succeeded Paula Hartley in the role on Jan. 7, Lockheed said in a Tuesday news release.

Hartley, who remains with Lockheed Martin, is now serving as VP of program performance for the defense contractor’s missiles and fire control business unit in Orlando, Florida, Patty Apostolakes, who handles communications for Lockheed Martin’s rotary and mission systems (RMS) business unit, said in an email response to a BJNN inquiry.

Besides his general manager role, Salim serves as VP for Lockheed’s advanced product solutions (APS) market segment. APS provides products and capabilities for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, ground vehicles, and naval ships, the company said.

Salim had previously worked for Stratford, Connecticut–based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., per his LinkedIn profile. Sikorsky is part of Lockheed Martin’s RMS business unit.

Salim earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix, per the Lockheed release.
