ONEIDA, N.Y. — The Madison County Health Department announced Tuesday it has learned of a possible public exposure to COVID-19 at the Walmart in Oneida last Thursday, July 30.

Members of the public who visited the store, located at 2024 Genesee Street in Oneida, that day between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. are asked to watch for symptoms of COVID-19 to develop through Aug. 13. Symptoms to look for include fever, cough, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, and/or unable to catch your breath.

The person infected with COVID-19 was wearing a face covering while in Walmart. The department didn’t say whether the individual was an employee, vendor, or shopper.

Madison County has had 430 total COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 399 of them having recovered and 17 having died, according to county data as of Monday afternoon. The county currently has just 14 active coronavirus cases and its 7-day average of new infections is two per day.
