GEDDES, N.Y. — The mass-vaccination site at the New York State Fairgrounds will relocate from the Expo Center to the Arts & Home Center, effective Wednesday.

In addition, the COVID-vaccine site at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Marcy will close following vaccinations on July 19, the office of Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday.

The SUNY Poly venue is among four mass-vaccination sites that will cease operations across New York as part of the ongoing downscaling that will allow the state to focus on localized vaccination efforts, Cuomo’s office said. The other sites to close on July 19 include Niagara Falls, Plattsburgh, and Jones Beach.

Over the course of weeks and months, a number of additional sites will demobilize as part of the strategic downscale based on demand, proximity to other vaccination sites, and “other locally focused efforts.” The transition “reflects the state’s plan” to focus resources in areas where the COVID-vaccination rate is lower than the statewide average through collaboration with local stakeholders, community members and partners, per Cuomo’s office.

New Yorkers are encouraged to continue to utilize the Am I Eligible tool to make appointments and check on the availability of vaccine at state-run vaccination sites.

All open sites continue to offer walk-in vaccinations for all eligible individuals.
