ENDICOTT, N.Y. — Mercy House of the Southern Tier will use a $100,000 grant for an admissions navigator.

New York City–based Mother Cabrini Health Foundation awarded the grant funding.

The money has allowed Mercy House to hire a registered nurse to work in the community, meet with palliative teams at hospitals, provide informational in-home visits, and help in raising awareness of Mercy House as a community-care shelter for the terminally ill, the organization said in a release.

The position will also help ensure that potential residents meet the guidelines to receive care at Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Endicott.

Mother Cabrini Health Foundation grants are targeted to specific needs.

“These grants demonstrate our continued commitment to support a wide range of organizations improving the health and well-being of New York’s most vulnerable,” Alfred Kelly, Jr., chairman of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation board of directors, said. Kelly is also the CEO of Visa (NYSE: V)
