FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. — Metro Fitness Health Club has added a second location at 6800 East Genesee St. in the village of Fayetteville.

Metro Fitness is operating in the space that Koinonia, Fayetteville Athletic Club previously occupied. Koinonia has moved to a different space in the same building, according to its Facebook page.

That location was also the former Track & Racquet/Fitness Forum Club, Metro Fitness said in a news release.

The company is calling its new Fayetteville club Metro Fitness East. Metro Fitness also has a location at 205 S. Salina St in downtown Syracuse.

Randy Sabourin, owner of Metro Fitness Health Club, is a certified personal trainer and medical-exercise specialist, according to the release.

He has been working with the owners of the 6800 East Genesee St. location “for several months” to make the second club a reality.

“I am proud and excited to announce that the lease is official, and the high quality of service and programs that have been a part of the history going back to the former Track & Racket/Fitness Forum will be revitalized and thrive to a new level,” Tom Kennedy, one of the principal owners of 6800 East Genesee St., said in the Metro Fitness news release.

The location is undergoing renovation work, Metro Fitness said. Sabourin has also made “major improvements” to the location’s equipment and management systems.

“Many remember this club as the ‘Track & Racquet Club.’ We cannot bring back the Racquet’ part, but we are replacing it with the word ‘Training,’ so our tagline for Metro Fitness East will be ‘Track & Training,’ emphasizing two of the major amenities of this club, the track and the personal training,” said Sabourin.

Metro Fitness East is open from 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, according to its release.

The company has a grand opening event scheduled for Jan. 29.
