CICERO — Mighty Taco — a well-known, Buffalo–based, Mexican fast-food restaurant chain — is returning to the Syracuse market on Jan. 25 when it opens in the former Tim Horton’s location at 7789 Brewerton Road in Cicero.
Mighty Taco tweeted about the opening this past Tuesday.
Mighty Taco had previously operated a restaurant at Destiny USA, when it was still called Carousel Center.
For its new foray into Central New York, the Buffalo company bought the 2,275-square-foot former Tim Horton’s building, located on about 0.85 acres, for $500,000. The property’s alternative address is 911 Main St. and it’s listed that way on the Mighty Taco website.
John Manilla and John Kaman of Cushman Wakefield/Pyramid Brokerage, represented Mighty Taco in the purchase, according to a news release from the real-estate firm. Lee Salvetti of Cushman Wakefield/Pyramid Brokerage represented Tim Horton’s.
The sale closed on Oct. 9, according to Onondaga County property records.
The Cicero location is Mighty Taco’s 24th. It has two restaurants in the Rochester area, and the other 21 locations are all in its home Buffalo region.
The restaurant chain’s menu includes tacos, burritos, fajitas, salads, and its own specialized dishes like buffitos (Buffalo-style chicken in a tortilla).
