Mohawk Valley Ad Club to host May 6 forum on future of Bagg’s Square

UTICA — The Mohawk Valley Advertising Club will soon host an open discussion on the future of the Bagg’s Square area of Utica and the role marketing will play in its growth opportunities.

The group will host the discussion on Tuesday, May 6 at Gerber’s 1933 Tavern from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Gerber’s is located in Bagg’s Square.

Local resident and business owner Michelle McCarrick Truett, who is helping to “spearhead the revival” of the neighborhood, will moderate the discussion, the MV Ad Club said in a news release. Truett is president and owner of 484 Design, Inc., a graphic-design firm.

The discussion topics will include how to attract more consumers to the neighborhood, what obstacles stand in the way of Bagg’s Square’s growth, and how business owners can leverage marketing to grow their local companies and the entire area.

The group is charging $30 to attend the event, but members of the MV Ad Club can attend at no charge.

Bagg’s Square, the northern neighborhood of downtown Utica described as “historic,” has been a topic of discussion in recent years.

Local citizens and business owners are working to revive that section of Utica with the addition of several local restaurants, loft apartments, and business offices.

Mohawk Valley Advertising Club describes itself as a group of advertising, communications, marketing and public relations professionals “joined together for the betterment of our professions.”
