Mohawk Valley Gives fundraising event returns on Sept. 20

UTICA, N.Y. — The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties hosts “Mohawk Valley Gives,” its second-annual 24-hour day of community giving, on Wednesday, Sept. 20 to benefit local nonprofit organizations.

More than 250 nonprofits are participating in the event, using social media and other means of engagement to encourage donors. The organizations support animal rights, disability services, racial equity, education, arts and culture, emergency response, poverty and hunger, entrepreneurship, health and wellness, and more. The full list of participating nonprofits is available at givemv.org.

“Mohawk Valley Gives is a way for us to support our nonprofits in a way that encourages them to build their donor base, collaborate with other nonprofits and our staff, and ultimately promote the incredible work they do,” Community Foundation President/CEO Alicia Fernandez Dicks said in a press release. “As an added bonus, these organizations also have the opportunity to win prizes and unlock matches and challenges all throughout the giving day. Last year, this community event raised more than $630,000 from over 1,800 unique donors, and we hope to make an even greater impact this year.”

While donations on the 20th help nonprofits maximize their fundraising goals, the Community Foundation will accept donations at givemv.org through September 30.
