MVCC Center for Leadership Excellence still accepting applications for fall group

UTICA, N.Y. — The Center for Leadership Excellence (CLE) is still accepting applications for cohorts in its flagship programs this fall, including Leadership Mohawk Valley, Leadership Academy, and Supervisors Institute.

All classes will be offered virtually this fall due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. Applications to join this year’s groups, available online, must be submitted by Sept. 1.

The programs seek to connect leaders from across the Mohawk Valley and “inspire them to think and lead in new and innovative ways to make a positive difference in our region,” per a Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) news release.

Leadership Mohawk Valley (LMV) is a 10-month program in which established professionals get an “in-depth, behind-the-scenes” look at the Mohawk Valley and its businesses, engage and network with community leaders, and complete a project.

Leadership Academy is a 10-month program for early-career professionals looking to “discover the impact one person can make on organizational culture.” Participants will learn about various leadership styles; strategies for developing their communication, management, and emotional intelligence skills; and how to build networks.

Supervisors Institute is a 10-month program for mid-career professionals who want to develop a “more advanced” understanding of leadership principles and build a “supervisory tool kit to be a more positive role model for their teams.”

Participants will learn new ways to handle difficult conversations and change, how to “sharpen their solution-focused” perspective, and expand their professional and personal networks.

CLE was launched in 2018 as a partnership between LMV and MVCC.
