UTICA, N.Y. — The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) has accredited the nursing-degree program at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC).
The accreditation is good until the spring of 2021, MVCC said in a news release.
ACEN is the Atlanta, Georgia–based entity that is responsible for the “specialized” accreditation of college nursing programs. ACEN was previously known as the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
NLNAC granted MVCC’s initial accreditation in 1970, and the school has “maintained accreditation ever since.” NLNAC changed its name to ACEN in 2013 following its move to Atlanta, according to its website.
ACEN judges institutions with associate-degree programs based on six standards. They include mission and administrative capacity, faculty and staff, students, curriculum, resources, and outcomes, according to the school’s news release.
MVCC established its nursing program in 1965.
