MVHS cardiac services unit adds new medical director, changes name

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. — Mohawk Valley Health System Medical Group has appointed Dr. Fred L. Talarico, a long-time cardiologist in the Mohawk Valley community, as its medical director for cardiac services.

In addition, Mohawk Valley Health System Medical Group is now called MVHS Cardiovascular and Preventative Medicine with Fred Talarico, MD, FAAC.

“In our continuing efforts to help meet our community’s healthcare needs for many years to come, we have decided to merge with the MVHS Medical Group,” Talarico said in an Aug. 30 press release. “I, along with nurse practitioners Pat Rosati, ANP, and Tayler Unser, FNP-C, look forward to making this transition.”

MVHS has been working to enhance comprehensive cardiac services from prevention to interventional services from surgery to rehabilitation. Talarico is leading this work in conjunction with MVHS in preparation for the upcoming transition to the new Wynn Hospital in 2023.

Talarico and his team began seeing patients at the MVHS Medical Arts Building in New Hartford on Sept. 1.
