UTICA, N.Y. — The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) announced it has appointed Patricia Charvat as senior VP of marketing and strategy.

Charvat had been working with MVHS for the past several months on a consulting basis.

In this newly developed role, Charvat will provide leadership and direction, in conjunction with the organization’s senior executives, for establishing growth, business development, and marketing strategies, MVHS said in a news release. She will help the health system establish “deep community relationships that target programs to demonstrably improve the health of the communities served by MVHS throughout the region.” She will develop advocacy strategies at the federal, state, and local-government levels and manage the marketing and communications functions and staff.

From 2013 to February 2019, Charvat led the public affairs, communications and marketing function for the Greater Waterbury Health Network in Waterbury, Connecticut, where she helped the organization navigate regulatory processes and build community support.

She also previously served as a senior VP at the Massachusetts Hospital Association, and for several years, ran her own consulting company, which focused on health-care marketing and strategy, advocacy, community health, as well as providing communications support to startup companies.

Charvat, from 1983 to 1998, served as VP of corporate communications and marketing at the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) in Albany.

She graduated from Utica College with a dual bachelor’s degree major in journalism and public relations.

At MVHS, Charvat is located in the administrative offices at the St. Luke’s Campus, located at 1656 Champlin Avenue in Utica.
