JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. — NBT Bank plans to open a new branch in Oakdale Commons at 625 Harry L Drive in Johnson City.

Construction has already begun on the 2,700-square-foot location with expectations to open later this year, pending regulatory approval. The full-service branch will include drive-up service and an ATM.

“NBT is excited to be part of the revitalization taking place at Oakdale Commons,” Tom Sutton, director of retail banking at NBT, said in a release. “We are constantly evaluating business and retail trends in our communities, and this new location will provide a convenient extension of our services in this high-traffic area.”

The new NBT branch will join seven others the bank has in Broome County, including two in Binghamton, one in Endicott, one in Johnson City, one in Vestal, one in Whitney Point, and one in Deposit.

“Our team is looking forward to supporting the community from this additional location in Johnson City that will complement our other locations in and around the Triple Cities,” Jeff Lake, NBT Greater Binghamton regional president, said.

Spark JC, LLC acquired the 70-acre Oakdale Commons property, formerly the Oakdale Mall, in January 2022 and has been working to transform the property into a mixed-use entertainment, retail, and lifestyle hub. Existing and future tenants include Factory by Beer Tree, some Broome County offices, a Lourdes Hospital wellness center and fitness facility, Dick’s House of Sport, Panera Bread, Chipotle, and a BJ’s Wholesale Club.

NBT Bank, N.A. and parent company, NBT Bancorp (NASDAQ: NBTB) are headquartered in Norwich. The bank offers personal and business banking along with wealth-management services via more than 140 branch locations in New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Connecticut.

On Aug. 11, NBT Bancorp, which has $11.89 billion in assets, will close on its acquisition of Connecticut-based Salisbury Bancorp, Inc., converting 13 Salisbury Bank locations into NBT branches.
