New keynote speaker scheduled for NEXT conference

SYRACUSE — The NEXT conference planned for Nov. 8 has a new luncheon keynote speaker.

The CASE Center at Syracuse University and the Central New York Technology Development Organization (TDO) are planning the event. The conference’s previously scheduled luncheon speaker, Jeremy Rifkin, was called to provide expertise at an economic summit in the European Union during NEXT, organizers said.

Peter Singer, director of the 21st Century Warfare Initiative at the Brookings Institution and a member of the Smithsonian’s list of 100 leading innovators in the nation, will speak at NEXT’s lunch instead. His talk will focus on the state of the art in robotics, organizers said.
