ROME, N.Y. — The newest Moe’s Southwest Grill restaurant in Central New York will open to the public on Thursday, April 24 in Rome.

Moe’s, located at 1877 Black River Blvd., is taking a space formerly occupied by Five Guys Burgers & Fries.

The Rome Moe’s Southwest Grill marks the 11th Moe’s eatery for franchise owner Larry Wilson, who is also the founder/owner of Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt. The business opened two new locations in Utica and Liverpool at the end of 2013, and is continuing its expansion throughout the Northeast, according to the news release.

Wilson plans to open several more stores this year across the Northeast and is in the process of identifying suitable Moe’s and Hoopla! locations.

“The Moe’s brand is one that has been well embraced nationwide and welcomed in the communities in which we open,” Wilson said in the release.

Recognized for his community giving and “exemplary performance” with the Moe’s brand, Wilson was awarded the honor of Franchisee of the Year earlier this year at the annual Focus Brands convention in San Antonio, according to the release.
