New regional online resource for entrepreneurs launches

A nonprofit group based in Buffalo is introducing a new online resource meant to help upstate New York’s startup community make connections with regional and national resources and long-term business opportunities.

The group, Launch NY, is introducing the resource, IdeaCrossing, with the help of partners including the Erie County Industrial Development Agency, the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences at the University of Buffalo, Tompkins County Area Development (TCAD), and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute of the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.

IdeaCrossing is a Web–based resource to help entrepreneurs find mentors and potential investors, access a regional directory of service providers, invite existing advisers to collaborate online, and more.

“IdeaCrossing is a robust entrepreneurial resource that’s completely free for anyone interested in this space to leverage,” Heather Filiberto, director of economic development services at TCAD, said in a news release. “Investors can use IdeaCrossing to privately and securely find deal flow specific to their interests while universities, economic development organizations, foundations, professional service providers, and other support services can showcase what they offer in one place, ensuring entrepreneurs can find them.”
