DeWITT — A new suite of tools for air traffic controllers developed in part by Saab Sensis is up and running at its first two airports.

Saab Sensis developed the new tools with NAV CANADA, the private-sector civil air navigation services provider in Canada, and Harris. The system, known as the Integrated Tower Automation Suite (INTAS), is now up and running at Broome and Rockhampton Airports in Australia.

The suite provides a work station for air traffic controllers with up to four touch-screen monitors that display data and common input devices. The system gives controllers access to an array of tools in a single customizable platform, according to Sensis.

“With INTAS, Airservices Australia controllers now have a fully integrated ‘glass tower’ to more efficiently manage air traffic,” Ken Kaminski, senior vice president of Saab Sensis, said in a news release. “INTAS embraces currently-fielded modern [air traffic control] tools and seamlessly integrates them into a dynamic system that is flexible, scalable, and adaptable to tomorrow’s needs.”

DeWitt–based Sensis is a subsidiary of Saab AB, a Swedish defense and security company.

Sensis employs about 600 people at eight locations and serves more than 60 customers in 35 countries. It has about 500 employees in Central New York. It provides sensor technologies, radar systems, modeling, and simulation for defense, civil aviation, airport, and airline customers.
