SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — The New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) announced that its board has selected Michael A. Mestan as its next president, succeeding Frank J. Nicchi, upon his retirement, scheduled for Aug. 31, 2017.
Mestan, who joined the college in 2002, is currently NYCC’s executive VP and provost and holds an academic appointment in the college’s chiropractic program. He has also previously held positions as department head for clinical sciences, dean of the chiropractic program, and executive VP for academic affairs. Before joining NYCC, Mestan held academic and administrative appointments at Parker University in Dallas, Texas. He has also practiced chiropractic medicine and served as a diagnostic imaging consultant.
Having earned his doctor of chiropractic degree from the National University of Health Sciences in 1994, Mestan completed his residency in diagnostic imaging at Southern California University of Health Sciences. In 2011, he earned a master’s degree, and in 2013 a doctorate in education degree, both in educational administration with a specialization in higher education, from the University of Rochester’s Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
