New York City firm merges operations with the Bonadio Group

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — New York City–based accounting firm Ganer + Ganer has officially merged its operations with the Bonadio Group and will now operate under the Bonadio name.

The merger deal was announced in August.

The Bonadio Group — headquartered in Rochester with an office in Syracuse — says it is the largest independent provider of professional services in upstate New York.

This merger and expansion within the New York City metropolitan market “strengthens the Bonadio Group’s commitment to growth downstate and their ability to provide outstanding client service to businesses across New York State and beyond,” the firm contended in a news release.

With more than 800 employees spanning 10 offices, this expansion has added 21 employees to the Bonadio Group’s footprint. Founded in 1978, the Bonadio Group has offices in Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, Albany and beyond. The firm has completed 21 mergers since its establishment in 1996.

Prior to the deal, Ganer + Ganer provided services to help clients navigate financial and organizational challenges. With a focus primarily on tax preparation, financial statements, business management and consulting, Ganer + Ganer “adds significant value” to the Bonadio Group’s existing service offerings.

Maxine and Robert Ganer founded the Ganer + Ganer firm in 1974.

In 2017, the founders transitioned the leadership of their firm to their sons, Casey and Terry Ganer.

With the deal finalized, the Bonadio Group is also announcing the appointment of Casey Ganer as office managing partner of its New York City location. In this role, Casey — along with Terry, Maxine and Robert Ganer —  will lead the execution of the firm’s growth strategy for the region, including the management of clients, employees, and financial strategy.

“The Ganer family and their firm are incredible assets to Bonadio and will greatly guide our growth and expansion efforts in downstate New York, as well as manage our dedicated New York City team,” Bruce Zicari, CEO of the Bonadio Group, said. “As we work to expand our commitment and presence in the region, their experience will be a tremendous asset as we continue our tradition of providing outstanding talent and services to our clients.”

“We are so excited for this new chapter,” Casey Ganer said. “Our consolidation and partnership with a firm like the Bonadio Group provides our people with a tremendous amount of opportunity and allows us to provide a wider array of services to our clients.”
