New York dairy farmers get higher prices for milk in August

Dairy farmers in the Empire State received an average of $20.30 per hundredweight of milk sold during August, up 10 cents from July and $1.70 more than in August 2012.

 

That’s according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, New York Field Office.

 

The field office also reported prices for other products. Grain corn, at $6.54 per bushel in August, was down 13 cents from July and $1.49 below the August 2012 price. Hay averaged $152 per ton in August, down $3 from July, but up $15 from August 2012, the field office reported.
