New York has now administered more than 18 million COVID vaccine doses

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York State on Friday reported that nearly 18.2 million doses of a vaccine that protects against COVID-19 have now been administered across the state.

Nearly five out of nine New York adults are fully vaccinated and the state is gradually edging toward two-thirds of adults having received at least one dose.

Here’s the full breakdown of the state’s latest vaccination statistics:

  • Total doses administered — 18,170,406
  • Total doses administered over past 24 hours — 145,291
  • Total doses administered over past 7 days — 863,635
  • Percent of New Yorkers ages 18 and older with at least one vaccine dose — 63.0%
  • Percent of New Yorkers ages 18 and older with completed vaccine series — 54.0%
  • Percent of all New Yorkers with at least one vaccine dose — 51.3%
  • Percent of all New Yorkers with completed vaccine series — 43.3%

To rachet up vaccinations further, the state will launch pop-up vaccination sites, May 24-28, at seven New York airports, including Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

The state has also launched a promotion to offer $20 in free lottery tickets to those who get vaccinated at one of 10 mass-vaccination sites across New York.

Those mass-vaccination sites are now open to eligible New Yorkers for walk-in shots on a first-come, first-serve basis. The walk-in availability is reserved for first doses only, with second doses to be scheduled automatically after administration of the initial shot. In addition, all vaccine providers are encouraged to allow walk-in availability for eligible New Yorkers.

Vaccinations of the 12-to-15-year-old age group have also fully launched across the state following recent federal approval.
