New York’s initial jobless claims dip 4 percent in latest week

The number of people applying for new unemployment-insurance benefits in New York state in the week ending Feb. 15 fell by 923, or nearly 4 percent, to 23,610, according to a U.S. Department of Labor news release issued Thursday.

This comes a week after the state’s initial jobless claims decreased by more than 10 percent.

The number of New Yorkers continuing to receive unemployment benefits also declined in the week ending Feb. 15 to 259,525 from 260,189 the week before.

The state data is not seasonally adjusted.
