New York state farms produced 114 million eggs in September, up 9 percent from the year-ago period, according to a report from the USDA’s New York field office.

The state averaged 4.7 million egg layers during September, up 6 percent from the year-earlier month. Egg production per 100 layers totaled 2,425 eggs this September, up 2 percent from September 2013, according to the field office.
