Nonprofit registration open for Mohawk Valley Gives 2024

UTICA, N.Y. — The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties is gearing up for Mohawk Valley Gives, its third-annual 24-hour online day of community giving, and nonprofits wishing to participate need to register this month.

The event, which takes place on Sept. 20, benefits nonprofit organizations serving the region, according to a press release from the foundation.

Last year, more than 6,800 donors contributed nearly $2.5 million, benefiting 255 nonprofit organizations devoted to causes including animal rights, disability services, racial equity, education, arts and culture, health and wellness, and emergency response.

“The second year of Mohawk Valley Gives was a tremendous success and exceeded all expectations,” Alicia Dicks, president and CEO of the Community Foundation, said in the press release. “The total dollars raised tripled compared to the previous inaugural year, and that is all thanks to the hard work that our nonprofits put in and the incredible support from our amazing community that gave to the causes they care most about. We are thrilled to see what this year will bring.”

Organizations interested in participating need to complete a registration form at givemv.org by May 31.

Mohawk Valley Gives 2024 will feature more robust training and support opportunities for nonprofit participants, the return of a prize pool that awards cash prizes to organizations on giving day, an increased focus on securing match and challenge incentives, and a new online shop to purchase Mohawk Valley Gives branded merchandise.

“Mohawk Valley Gives gave us a wonderful platform to raise funds from so many different people and places that we could never access on our own,” Bill Fahy, president of the Mohawk Valley Bluegrass Association, said in the announcement. “We attracted quite a few new members throughout the event as well – a welcome bonus I did not expect! The giving platform was easy to use, and I appreciate the support from the Community Foundation in getting our campaign all set up.”

Mohawk Valley Gives is powered by the Community Foundation and presented by Staffworks and M&T Bank.
