The store will be on the mall’s first floor and encompass more than 33,000 square feet, according to a company news release. It will be next to the Cheesecake Factory and across from the Armani Outlet.
The new store is part of a larger expansion by Nordstrom Rack, which also announced plans to open venues in Albany and Buffalo this fall.
“We have been focused on growing our store presence throughout upstate New York and are excited to bring a Nordstrom Rack closer to home for customers in Syracuse,” Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, said in the release. “Destiny USA represents the best of shopping in the area with a terrific mix of retail, entertainment and restaurants and we look forward to serving customers when we open.”
Nordstrom Rack is a division of Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) that sells products at a discounted rate compared to full-line Nordstrom retail stores. Seattle–based Nordstrom was founded in 1901 and has nearly 300 locations in 38 states. That includes 167 Nordstrom Racks, 116 full-line stores in the U.S. and one in Canada, one clearance store, two Jeffrey boutiques, and five showrooms for its personalized clothing service, Trunk Club.
“The community has been asking for a Nordstrom Rack for several years,” Sara Wallace, director of marketing at Destiny USA, said in the release. “It’s a huge achievement for us and we’re thrilled to have them broaden our offering and help fulfill the demand for regional fans of the brand.”
