NORWICH, N.Y. — NYCM Insurance announced it has donated $100,000 to the capital campaign at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
Officials from NYCM Insurance presented a ceremonial check in that amount to campaign leaders at the Norwich hospital on Tuesday.
UHS Chenango Memorial is hoping to raise a “minimum” of $3.5 million in the capital campaign, Melissa Stagnaro, director of fundraising and business development at UHS Chenango Memorial, tells CNYBJ.
Headquartered in Edmeston in Otsego County, NYCM Insurance is a property and casualty insurer that employs 850 people regionally.
Dr. Drake Lamen, president and CEO of UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, says that funds raised through the capital campaign will support construction of a new emergency room and walk-in center, as well as strategic investments in diagnostic imaging and infrastructure to support the growth of future services at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The work is part of the first phase of the hospital’s Chenango Medical Neighborhood Plan.
“This is the largest concentrated investment in our hospital in 50 years, and only the fourth time in our history that we’ve reached out to the community with a capital campaign,” Lamen said in a statement. “The response has been humbling, and we’re very grateful to NYCM Insurance and all those who have stepped forward to generously support this fundraising effort.”
The hospital will continue to solicit support for the 2019 Chenango Medical Neighborhood Capital Campaign through the end of the year, he added.
