A recently revealed list of the state’s top companies to work for contains several firms operating in the Binghamton, Syracuse, and Utica areas.
The New York State Society for Human Resource Management (NYS-SHRM) yesterday revealed its 50-spot 2013 Best Companies to Work for in New York State list. It splits winners into a group of small and medium-sized employers with fewer than 249 U.S. workers and large employers with 250 or more people.
Edward Jones of Binghamton made the large-employers list. Syracuse–based Hayner Hoyt Corp. and Syracuse–based Pinckney Hugo Group slotted into the small and medium employer list.

NYS-SHRM will reveal list members’ rankings at an awards dinner at the Albany Marriott on April 30. It will also distribute a publication profiling the winning organizations.
The state human resources association created its list of top employers along with Pennsylvania’s Best Companies Group, which uses surveys and technology to recognize employers that provide high-quality places to work. The list comes after surveying gauging employee satisfaction, employee engagement, workplace practices, and workplace policies.
