NYSEG, RG&E appoint Taylor as new president and CEO

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) have appointed Carl Taylor as their new president and CEO.

Taylor will be replacing Mark Lynch, who announced his retirement earlier this year, NYSEG said in a news release.

Taylor will officially assume his new role on July 1.

Both NYSEG and RG&E are subsidiaries of New Haven, Connecticut–based Avangrid (NYSE: AGR).

Taylor, who is currently the VP of customer service, started with NYSEG in 1987 as an electrical engineer in the generation-planning area.

He progressed through “numerous” positions in the organization. They included president of NYSEG Solutions and subsequently president and CEO of the Energy Network, where he provided “strategic leadership and direction” to all non-utility subsidiaries.

Taylor also previously served as the VP of business transformation.

Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a master of business administration degree from State University of New York at Binghamton.
