OCC announces new agreements

SYRACUSE — Onondaga Community College (OCC) announced four new agreements this week, including some that will allow students to more easily continue their studies elsewhere.

Under one agreement, Columbia College will accept an OCC degree as satisfaction of the school’s general education requirements. Students who complete an associate’s degree at OCC will be approved for admission to Columbia, which has a campus in Syracuse in addition to other locations around the country.

OCC also announced an agreement with Sage College of Albany. The agreement is designed to help qualified OCC students transfer into the graphic and media design bachelor’s program at Sage.

Sage agreed to accept up to 66 credit hours earned by OCC students.

In addition, Bellevue University has agreed that any student who completes an associate’s degree at OCC will receive full recognition of that degree toward completion of a bachelor’s degree at Bellevue.

The students will have no further general education core curriculum requirements to meet at Bellevue, located in Bellevue, Neb.

Finally, OCC announced an agreement with SEIU-1199, a union of health care workers. The agreement allows students who complete the 1199-SEIU Training and Upgrading Fund Pre-HC4 Program reading course to pass into a higher level reading and study skills class at OCC without additional testing.
