OCC announces transfer-articulation agreement with Ithaca College

ONONDAGA — Onondaga Community College (OCC) on Wednesday announced a transfer-articulation agreement with Ithaca College (IC).

The agreement ensures that students earning an associate degree at OCC will be accepted to Ithaca, provided they meet the minimum cumulative grade-point average required for transfer admission to a bachelor’s degree program, OCC said in a news release.

The agreement, OCC contends, also ensures that general-education requirements earned at OCC will “seamlessly” transfer into Ithaca’s general-education requirements, or what’s known as the integrative-core curriculum.

Ithaca College will consider accepted OCC transfer students holding an associate degree as having completed all of IC’s integrative core-curriculum requirements, according to OCC.

Historically, OCC has been one Ithaca College’s “strongest” transfer partners within the SUNY system, Marisa Kelly, provost and vice president for educational affairs at Ithaca College, said in the news release.

“This fall, we launched an exciting new college-wide general-education curriculum, the Integrative Core Curriculum, or ICC. This new transfer agreement allows OCC students who complete their [associate] degrees to transfer into Ithaca College with full credit for the general-education work they have already completed, while also allowing them to participate in the ICC through a transfer-student seminar, creation of an Ithaca College ePortfolio, and a senior-level capstone experience,” Kelly said.

OCC has more than 80 transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities, the school said.
