ONONDAGA, N.Y. — The OCC Foundation has created the Lazer Response Fund to assist students “negatively impacted” by the coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak.
The athletic teams at Onondaga Community College (OCC) are called the Lazers.
The foundation says it works to help “students meet all of the challenges they face from food insecurity and technology needs to tuition aid,” per a Thursday news release.
Those interested can make donations at http://www.sunyocc.edu/response. The fundraising goal is $100,000.
“The coronavirus pandemic has created new challenges for everyone, but for many OCC students who were already stretched to the limit, they are now pushed to the breaking point with lost jobs, gaping technology holes, and kids and families to juggle. The Lazer Response Fund will support our students who face tremendous challenges in this unprecedented situation. We ask everyone to help our students stay #lazerstrong, finish the semester, and continue to pursue their educational goals,” OCC President Casey Crabill said.
