SYRACUSE — Onondaga Community College (OCC) on Tuesday announced Casey Crabill will become the school’s eighth president.

Crabill is currently serving as the president of Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg, N.J., where she is completing her seventh academic year.

Crabill replaces Debbie Sydow, who left the post in March 2012 to become president of Richard Bland College in Virginia.

OCC interim president Margaret “Meg” O’Connell will serve until June 30, the school said.

“Dr. Crabill’s more than 15 years of experience as a community college president and 25 years in education … will be a tremendous asset to the college, its students, faculty and staff, and our entire community as we advance the institution’s ambitious strategic plan,” Allen Naples, chairman of the OCC board of trustees, said in a news release.
