ONONDAGA, N.Y. — Onondaga Community College is starting a weekend college program beginning Aug. 24.

OCC describes weekend college as an “accelerated program” that will give students the chance to “earn a two-year associate degree in just one year,” according to a news release.

OCC will hold weekend college classes Friday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday’s from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the OCC campus.

Financial aid and scholarships are available for those who qualify, the college said.

Business administration.is the first degree program that OCC is offering through its weekend college program.

“Weekend college is ideally suited for students who are balancing work, family and personal responsibilities, allowing them to be on-campus two days per week and to complete an associate degree in only one year through an accelerated year-round calendar. With so many people in our community looking for a convenient, affordable way to quickly get into or move up in the business field, the Business Administration degree from OCC is a great fit,” Casey Crabill, president of OCC, contended in the school’s news release.

In addition, OCC’s partnership with SUNY Oswego will offer students a chance to “seamlessly” transfer into a bachelor’s degree program in business administration at that school. SUNY Oswego offers the program through a combination of online and in-person classes at its downtown Syracuse campus in Clinton Square.

OCC said it is planning to add more majors for weekend college, pending approval by SUNY and the New York State Education Department.
