Oneida County launches electric-vehicle charging station dashboard

UTICA, N.Y. — Oneida County launched its electric vehicle (EV) charging station dashboard that helps residents and visitors locate charging stations across the county.

“Our commitment to electric vehicles as a vital part of the future of transportation nationally, and as a key piece of our economy in this country and region with the arrival of Wolfspeed, takes another step forward today,” Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. said in a release announcing the site. “This tool takes out the guess work of when and where residents and visitors are able to charge their vehicles. As EV support infrastructure is built out by government and private business, a comprehensive inventory becomes essential.”

The dashboard, accessible at ocgov.net, is an ESRI ArcGIS platform with a variety of features to help users locate and utilize charging stations. The map has pinpoint addresses of all county charging stations and provides information including location, charger type, number of chargers at the location, charger brand, payment method, connection type, kilowatts, hours of operation, charger access, and whether accessible parking is available.

The site also includes a general overview of information including the total number of charging stations in the county, the number of electronic vehicles registered in the county (updated monthly), and a year-over-year comparison of the number of vehicles.

The dashboard also has a submission form for local governments, businesses, and organizations to notify the county planning department when they install new charging stations.

“This dashboard will be a real-time tool for those who want to let us know where new stations have been installed,” Planning Commissioner James Genovese said. “As we continue to build out our five-year implementation plan for EV charging stations, this dashboard will serve as an online, real-time inventory to assist us on where this infrastructure is and should be.”

The dashboard was a key implementation metric of the electric-vehicle charging station community plan released in May.
