Oneida County reports new COVID-19 cases Sunday; warns of potential exposure at three businesses on Friday

UTICA, N.Y. — Oneida County on Sunday reported 15 new COVID-19 cases to bring the total to 1,361.

It’s also warning of potential exposure to the virus at three area businesses on Friday.

The county didn’t report any deaths from the virus in either its Saturday or Sunday email updates.

Of the 1,361 cases, 11 patients are hospitalized in Oneida County, including nine in the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) and two are Rome Memorial Hospital (RMH). Two people are admitted outside the county.

Seven of the hospitalized patients are from nursing homes, including five at MVHS and two are RMH.

Oneida County’s Sunday report also indicates that the county has 357 active positive cases and that 919 positive cases have been resolved.

In addition, health-care workers have conducted 38,418 tests, with 37,057 negative results.

The county also reports 386 patients are under mandatory quarantine; 192 are under precautionary quarantine; and 12,060 have been discharged from mandatory and precautionary quarantine, per Oneida County’s email.

Exposure warning

Oneida County’s Sunday update also included a warning about potential public exposures to COVID-19 on Friday, June 19 at three area businesses. Anyone who was in the businesses during the potential exposure times should monitor for symptoms through July 3, the county added. Details on the exposure are below.

Walmart at 4765 Commercial Drive in New Hartford between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and the person prompting the warning was wearing a mask.

Daikers at 161 Daikers Circle in Old Forge between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the person prompting the warning wasn’t wearing a mask.

Walgreens drive thru at 1750 Genesee St. in Utica between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., and the individual prompting the warning was wearing a mask.
