VERONA, N.Y. — The Oneida Indian Nation is getting ready for the opening of its cannabis business, Verona Collective, on Jan. 3 by hosting two days of information sessions Dec. 14 and 16 to help area jobseekers learn more about job opportunities.
Both sessions take place at Turning Stone Resort Casino. On Thursday Dec. 14, the sessions are set for 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 16, the sessions take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
“There is a huge amount of interest in jobs with Verona Collective, both within the Oneida Indian Nation’s current team and across the region,” Ryan Riggs, Turning Stone Enterprises VP for retail, said in a release. “Joining the Turning Stone Enterprises team is a great way to receive a first look at these opportunities and to build the skills we’re looking for throughout the Verona Collective: exceptional customer service, strong communication and collaboration, flexibility, and more.”
Fully operated by the Oneida Indian Nation, Verona Collective is a seed-to-sale business from the cultivation of plants to processing, packaging, and retail sales. All take place on Nation lands.
Construction on the 50,000-square-foot cultivation facility wrapped up earlier this year, and the dispensary is set to open Jan. 3 at 5250 Willow Place. It will offer an array of products including cannabis flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, and more from Verona Collective’s brands Trim & Proper, CNY Provisions, Humble & Kind, and Fair Shake.
A second dispensary in Verona will open in the spring of 2024, with plans to open additional dispensaries over the next 18-24 months.
To prepare for the wave of hiring, the information sessions will help job seekers learn more about the positions available, which include cultivation, processing, packaging, and retail opportunities.
