CHITTENANGO, N.Y. — The Oneida Indian Nation has opened a SavOn Convenience Store in Chittenango, its first new SavOn since June 2003.
The Chittenango store, SavOn’s 13th location, opened to customers on Sept. 3, according to Kelly Abdo, a spokeswoman for the Oneida Nation. A grand-opening event was scheduled to be held late Friday afternoon.
Located at 603 Genesee Street in Chittenango, the new SavOn encompasses 2,000 square feet and features a wide selection of cigarette brands, Green Mountain Coffee, and a Stone Hearth Express, which offers sandwiches, salads, and pizzas.
“Opening our first SavOn store in Chittenango is an exciting time for us and the response from the community has been overwhelming,” Sean Brown, director of SavOn operations, said in a news release.
The store will employ 10 people, Abdo said in an email.
