Oneida Nation to start construction on sports-betting venues “shortly”

The Oneida Indian Nation on Tuesday released renderings of The Lounge with Caesars Sports, its upcoming sports-betting venues at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, Point Place Casino in Sullivan, and Yellow Brick Road Casino in Chittenango. VERONA, N.Y. — The Oneida Indian Nation announced that it plans to begin construction “shortly” on sports-betting venues at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona and Point Place Casino in Sullivan.

The upcoming sports books will each be called “The Lounge with Caesars Sports.” The Oneida Nation also released renderings of what the new sports book will look like.

The addition to Yellow Brick Road Casino in Chittenango will happen “later” as part of the project’s second phase, according to an Oneida Nation news release.

Even as it looks to get construction started, the Oneida Nation is still waiting for approval to offer the sports-betting option, which is subject to National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) review.

Besides the NIGC review, the New York State Gaming Commission also has to issue sports-betting regulations, which the Nation will adopt for its casinos “pursuant to the Nation-State gaming compact,” per an earlier Nation news release.

The Oneida Nation is partnering with Las Vegas, Nevada–based Caesars Entertainment (NASDAQ: CZR) for licensing and branding alliance for the Lounge with Caesars Sports.

The all-new sport betting venues will have LED (light-emitting diode) terminals with high-definition resolution, and odds boards that “constantly” update and offer opportunities for in-game wagers. They’ll also offer bars, ticket windows, seating, and VIP areas with their own “dedicated” TV screens.
