Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Elghandour on Dec. 3 and charged her with offering a false instrument for filing in the 1st degree (a Class E felony), according to a news release from the Madison County government.

The Sheriff’s Office alleges that Elghandour filed an application for public assistance at the Madison County Department of Social Services knowing that the information she provided was false. She failed to report that she was residing with her husband.

Elghandour “committed this fraudulent act with the intent to defraud the Madison County Department of Social Services” to gain the public-assistance benefits, per the release. It didn’t specify the type of benefits she was seeking, nor the amount.
