ONONDAGA, N.Y. — The campus of Onondaga Community College (OCC) will become smoke and tobacco free as of this Thursday.

That means smoke, tobacco, electronic cigarette/electronic aerosol-delivery device use will be prohibited indoors and outdoors on the OCC campus, school said in a Monday news release.

OCC’s new smoke and tobacco free policy will also prohibit sales of tobacco and electronic cigarette/electronic aerosol-delivery device sales on campus. In addition, the college will not allow advertising, marketing, distribution, or promotion of tobacco or electronic cigarette/electronic aerosol-delivery device products on campus.

Students and college employees will be able to access cessation treatment, including counseling and nicotine-replacement therapy on campus.

“Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death in our country. We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for the entire campus community. Being smoke and tobacco free is a significant step in that direction,” OCC President Casey Crabill said in the release.
