SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The death toll from COVID-19 in Onondaga County has risen to 90 with six additional deaths in nursing homes in the past day.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon on Friday announced the deaths to begin his daily coronavirus briefing at the Oncenter. He didn’t have demographic information on those who passed away.
“We want to just take a moment and think about these individuals who lost their lives, their loved ones, and their families, and everybody we’ve lost in this process,” McMahon said after announcing the deaths.
Onondaga County now has 1,543 cases of COVID-19, up 20 from Thursday. Of those, 662 cases are active, up three from a day prior.
The county has 61 people in the hospital with the disease, up two from Thursday. Of those, 17 are in critical condition, up one from Thursday, according to McMahon.
A total of 796 people in the county have recovered from the deadly bug, to date, up 11 from the previous day.
