SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Two additional Onondaga County residents have died from COVID-19, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced Monday afternoon.
They are the 10th and 11th county residents to die from the dangerous disease.
“We had two more deaths in our community related to COVID-19. Both were female — one in her 80s and the other in her 70s. Obviously, this is a grim reminder to all of us how deadly this virus is,” McMahon said to open his remarks at the daily coronavirus briefing.
He also extended his sympathy to both families and to the families of all the county residents who have perished from COVID-19.
Onondaga County now has 520 infections, up by more than 5 percent from 494 on Sunday. McMahon said 49 people are in the hospital, an increase of two from Sunday. Of those hospitalized, 20 people are in critical condition, down three from Sunday.
