DeWITT, N.Y. — The Onondaga County Health Department says it is investigating a confirmed case of COVID-19 involving an employee of America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses at 3401 Erie Boulevard East in DeWitt in Marshall’s Plaza.
Onondaga County Health Commissioner Dr. Indu Gupta says her department has a message for anyone who was in the store Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday during the week of March 9.
Customers who visited the store during specific hours on those days should contact their doctor, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said during his afternoon media briefing at the Oncenter. Those days and times include Monday (3/9) between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; on Tuesday (3/10) between 9:30 a.m and 6:30 p.m.; on Wednesday (3/11) between 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and on Thursday (3/12) between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
“We are asking them to look for any signs and symptoms for any fever, cough, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, or anything which you think that might indicate [a] COVID-19 symptom, please contact your health-care provider and see if you should be getting tested,” said Gupta.
The health commissioner made the announcement Friday, during Onondaga County’s daily public briefing.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon started the Noon briefing announcing that Onondaga County has six new coronavirus cases, bringing to 13 the total number of people in the county who tested positive for the virus, as of midday Friday. Another 21 people were under mandatory quarantine.
“Three of [people that tested positive] were individuals that were in a quarantine that had contact with a previous positive case. Three of them are new,” McMahon said.
The Onondaga County Health Department is investigating the three new cases.
“This was expected,” Gupta added.
In those cases, she said the ages range from the early 20s to mid-to-late 70s.
